Crystal Geodes
Crystal geodes are round rocks of varying sizes with a hollow center that is lined with many crystals inside. In legend, they were described as crystal eggs laid by magical birds. This is why geodes are considered egg symbols utilized to increase fertility and to promote conception. The outside of a crystal geode is very plain, uninteresting, sometimes even ugly. However, inside this rough stone egg is truly like an amazing crystal cave! Amethyst geodes are some of the most beautiful objects on earth. Sunlight shining on them is dazzling. They were also called 'dragon treasures' in Eastern Europe, because when they cut open or broken apart the eggs - they revealed sparkling crystal gemstones. Most geodes contain clear quartz crystals, while others have purple amethyst crystals, which is the most popular. Most orange Citrine geodes are formed by heat treating purple Amethyst. Still other geodes can have agate, chalcedony, or jasper banding or crystals such as calcite, dolomite, celestite, etc. Crystal geodes are also known as Eagle stone, echites, aetites, and the potato stone - probably from its rough appearance before the inner beauty is revealed.
Crystal geodes hold and amplify energy within themselves. Due to their rounded, cave-like shape and numerous terminations, they diffuse the amplified energy, softening the energy but not neutralizing it, allowing it to flow out slowly if required. They are useful for protection and aid spiritual growth. The also relate to the Great Mother Goddess. Crystal geodes are extremely useful for past-life meditations. Use to concentrate your magical power just before releasing it. Can also be used as a focus point for going across time. If two halves of a crystal geode are shared between friends, the energy flow between the two halves will remain linked.
Also known as thunder eggs, crystal geodes are highly prized. No discussion of using stones in magic would not be complete without mentioning geodes. Their powers are associated with childbirth and fertility, and meditation. For meditation purposes, the geode can be held in the hand or placed on the altar. On the outside, a rough rock. On the inside, there is beauty. The strength is always within. A geode pair is a good love crystal whereby the 2 halves are kept together even when the couple must spend time apart. A symbol for secret love or were one or both of the lovers has an existing love commitment they must honor. Note: a crystal cluster is not the same as a crystal geode, they are two different things.
